Here is the thing about Troy Savings Bank Music Hall: the room does half the work before anyone plays a note. The New York Times called it “one of the acoustic marvels of the world,” and the moment you walk in — that ceiling, the grand Odell concert organ — you understand exactly why. Pair that with Jon Anderson, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and the countertenor voice of Yes, and Tuesday night in Troy is worth the drive.
About Jon Anderson and The Band Geeks
Anderson co-founded Yes with bassist Chris Squire in 1968. His voice — a high countertenor that rides above the most complex arrangements without breaking a sweat — defined the sound of progressive rock through landmark albums like The Yes Album, Fragile, and Close to the Edge. Yes was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.
He connected with The Band Geeks, a New York-based collective of dedicated Yes fans led by Blue Oyster Cult’s Richie Castellano, in 2023. This tour — their fourth U.S. run together — is called YES Epics, Classics & More. The set draws deep from the Yes catalog alongside material from their 2024 debut album True, which includes the 16-minute “Once Upon A Dream” and the nine-minute “Counties and Countries.” No opening act — the full evening belongs to Anderson and the Geeks. A second studio album is already in pre-production, due in the second half of 2026.
“I still think I’m part of YES,” Anderson has said. “They still feel like my songs.” In a room built to make voices carry, that is going to land.
The Venue
Troy Savings Bank Music Hall has been on Second Street since 1875 and is a National Historic Landmark. Capacity is 1,253. The acoustics are the defining feature — considered among the finest concert hall acoustics in the country — and the Odell concert organ is one of the most striking architectural details you will find in any upstate New York venue. Troy sits in the Capital District, just north of Albany.
