Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams at Mohawk Place | January 31, 2027

By Nate Calloway · October 27, 2026

Larry Campbell’s guitar has been called a third voice (“scorching here, funky there, stellar always”), the part that weighs in between Teresa Williams’ alternately fierce and velvet-toned vocals and the songs themselves, arriving out of a partnership that began in a Manhattan rehearsal studio in 1986 and has deepened with every subsequent record. The two close out their January run at Mohawk Place in Buffalo on Sunday, January 31.

About the Show

Mojo has called them “The First Couple of Americana,” and the résumé behind that title is considerable. Campbell, a New York City native who mastered Southern music and brought it to Bob Dylan, Levon Helm, Phil Lesh, Little Feat, Jorma Kaukonen, and Keith Richards, produced three Grammy-winning albums with Helm and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Americana Music Association. Williams, who grew up on a farm in West Tennessee and came to New York City to pursue acting, has never put the singing down; her voice moves across jazz, country, bluegrass, and blues with a range that can be fierce one moment and liquid the next. The two spent years performing at Levon Helm’s Midnight Rambles in Woodstock before releasing their acclaimed eponymous debut in 2015. Their fourth studio album, All This Time, arrived April 5, 2024, via Royal Potato Family. Relix called it their “most intimate album to date”; the Associated Press called it “a rousing and romantic testament to the power of love both forever and fleeting.” Williams framed the album honestly: “The biscuit making in telling the collective story is in being honest about our own story, pain and all.” No support acts are listed for the Buffalo date.

Live, the two draw from a catalog that reaches from their own compositions to covers ranging from Duke Ellington to Bill Monroe to Johnny Cash and Rev. Gary Davis, with Campbell moving between fiddle, pedal steel, acoustic and electric guitars, and mandolin as the music calls for it. Campbell has described the interlocking influences woven through their work as “incestuous Americana history.” The January tour leg closes in Buffalo after stops at Daryl’s House in Pawling, Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, and the Center for the Arts of Homer.
