Let Wednesday, October 21 be your reason to spend an evening in Rochester. Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox is bringing The Future Is Vintage World Tour to Kodak Center, and if you have never caught this show live, this is the one to fix that.
About Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox
The concept sounds like a party trick until you actually hear it: modern pop — Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Radiohead, Miley Cyrus — rebuilt from scratch in the style of jazz, swing, Motown, ragtime, and classic soul. Scott Bradlee, pianist and arranger, launched the project in 2011 from a basement in Astoria, Queens. More than 1,000 shows across six continents and over two billion YouTube views later, PMJ has headlined Royal Albert Hall, Radio City Music Hall, and the Sydney Opera House.
What makes it worth the trip? The rotating cast. A different lineup of world-class vocalists and musicians comes to each stop — past performers have included Haley Reinhart and Robyn Adele Anderson. The show swings through ’70s rock, ’80s Britpop, today’s chart-toppers, and even video-game soundtracks. PMJ has been called the “Saturday Night Live of singers,” and that gets the vibe exactly right. No two nights are ever quite the same.
The Venue
Kodak Center sits at 200 W Ridge Rd on Rochester‘s west side — a 2,400-seat theater with the stage setup this kind of production needs. Check kodakcenter.com for age policies and any venue-specific details before you go. One practical note from past PMJ shows here: the crowd dresses up. Lean into the vintage theme — it adds to the night.
