Born Richard Starkey on July 7, 1940, Starr launched the All Starr Band concept in 1989 — an ensemble built around rotating lineups of celebrated musicians, with Starr anchoring the kit and fronting the show. The current edition is among the more compelling assemblies the project has fielded: Steve Lukather and Colin Hay on guitars, Warren Ham on saxophone, Hamish Stuart on bass, Gregg Bissonette on drums, and Buck Johnson on keyboards.
