The Disco Biscuits have spent three decades refining something the music industry has never found a clean category for. Their “trance-fusion” — the Philadelphia quartet’s own term for a sound that lives between electronic dance music and improvisational rock — has always been more live proposition than streaming artifact. It lands in Buffalo on Friday, October 9, for the first of a two-night stand at Town Ballroom.

Night 1 of a back-to-back engagement at Town Ballroom, promoted by Funtime Presents, with Night 2 following on Saturday, October 10. The fall northeast run brings the band in from Rutland, Vermont on October 8, then moves east to Syracuse on October 11 before continuing through New England in late October, a circuit the band has been working hard, having logged 38 performances across eight months of 2026 alone.
Jon “The Barber” Gutwillig (guitar), Marc Brownstein (bass), Aron Magner (keys), and Allen Aucoin (drums) have been a working unit since Aucoin joined in 2005. The Biscuits formed at the University of Pennsylvania in late 1995 and have released nine full-length studio albums, including the rock operas Hot Air Balloon (1998) and Chemical Warfare Brigade (2000) and their 2024 space opera, Revolution in Motion. That arc, from frat party circuit in Philadelphia to founding and curating their own electronic music festival (Camp Bisco), covers more ground than most bands manage in a full career. Press material describes “a band of transformation and invention” whose “soul belongs as much to marathon dance parties as it does to improvisational journeys,” and whose music remains “100% human although, perhaps, not entirely of this planet.” In a general admission room on a Friday night in October, that is a reasonable set of conditions to walk into.
Venue & Logistics
Town Ballroom sits at 681 S. Main Street in Buffalo, part of the western New York live music circuit. At 1,000 capacity and general admission standing room throughout, it is a format that suits a band whose sets reward movement as much as listening. Doors at 7 p.m. Ages 12 and up; minors under 16 must be accompanied by a parent. Government-issued ID required. Bags must be 12″×12″×6″ or smaller; no backpacks permitted.
