THROWN play without a bassist. The Stockholm quartet fills that space with two seven-string guitars downtuned so aggressively that the low end stops being rumble and becomes impact. That design choice has carried them from a debut EP in 2022 to a band with 100 million global streams, 1.5 million monthly Spotify listeners, and back-to-back wins at the Heavy Music Awards. On Saturday, April 10, they bring the Unwanted North America Tour to its final stop at Empire Live in Albany.
About the Show
April 10 is the closing date of a 23-date run that opened March 12 in Philadelphia and moved through the Northeast, Midwest, and South. THROWN arrives in Albany off a fall 2026 European run and a month on the road across North America; by the time they hit this stage, the set has been tested on every kind of crowd. The show supports Unwanted, the band’s sophomore album via Arising Empire, due November 6, 2026. The record is described as “crushing grooves with hardcore aggression and a nu-metal swagger, in tight songs with no wasted seconds.” That tracks, given that their 2024 debut Excessive Guilt ran 11 songs in just over 20 minutes. Three singles are out ahead of the record: “Split,” built around heavy instrumentation and internal turmoil; “Rehearsed,” which rides massive grooves and a venomous vocal delivery; and “Critic,” which addresses outside judgment without flinching. Themes across the album run toward frustration, isolation, and resentment, delivered with what the band describes as a “blunt sense of humor and confrontational attitude.” THROWN formed in Stockholm in 2021, with members previously in Humanity’s Last Breath, Vildhjarta, and Grieved. Their 2022 EP Extended Pain hit 50 million streams from five tracks and spent nearly a year on Spotify’s Top 200 Global Metal chart. Support comes from Guilt Trip, a British crossover group, and Fromjoy, a mathcore outfit.
