Lafayette, Louisiana thrash metal band Void signed to Metal Blade Records in February 2026 and put it plainly: “We are sharpening the fangs for our most vicious material yet. It’s about to get bloody.” Seven months later the Empire of Blood 2 Tour arrives at Funk ‘n Waffles in Syracuse on Thursday, September 10, and nothing about that statement sounds like a bluff.
About the Show
Void formed in 2019 under vocalist Jackson Davenport in Lafayette, Louisiana. Current lineup: Davenport on vocals, Gabe LeJeune and Chris Braune on guitars, Blake Adams on bass, Aaron Landry on drums. Their sound combines technically proficient thrash and heavy metal with dark, theatrical atmospherics, drawing from Savatage, King Diamond, Metal Church, and Testament. Debut album Horrors of Reality (2023) laid the foundation. Forbidden Morals, released in late 2024/2025 on Shadow Kingdom Records, is a cinematic concept album about a traveler’s descent into the castle of Vlad the Impaler. It earned them the Metal Blade Records deal announced in February 2026. Since the signing, Void has toured alongside Dark Angel, Forbidden, Sacred Reich, and Exhorder, and appeared at Hell’s Heroes, Blade of Steel, and Keep It True Festival.
The September 10 bill co-headlines Phantom, thrash/speed metal out of Guadalajara, Mexico, formed in 2021 and signed to High Roller Records. The Empire of Blood 2 Tour runs September 2–24, 2026, across North America. Local support from Dysplä cer — the Rochester-area outfit who call their sound “New Wave of Kung Fu Heavy Metal” and back it up with guitar and bass-heavy riffs threaded through sludge, punk, and doom. Their album Temple Heights is on Bandcamp. Banepath rounds out the night.
