Willie Nile carries a résumé most rock lifers would envy — 45 years in music, 21 albums, and a body of work that has drawn public endorsements from Bruce Springsteen, Bono, and Pete Townshend — and on Thursday, November 19, he brings that history into Lark Hall, a 300-capacity room on Hudson Avenue that turns the distance between his reputation and the stage into something conspicuously intentional.
About the Show
Nile is touring behind The Great Yellow Light, his 21st studio album, released June 20, 2025 on River House Records. The title came from a phrase he encountered in Vincent Van Gogh’s letters to his brother Theo. “The phrase just struck me,” Nile has said. “‘The great yellow light.’ To me it meant awe and wonder.” The record mixes guitar-driven rockers with sensitive ballads; Americana UK called it “a cautionary message for the times, laced with hope and lashings of rock ‘n’ roll,” awarding it a 9/10. MOJO gave it four stars. Guest contributors include Steve Earle, Paul Brady, The Hooters’ Rob Hyman and Eric Bazilian, members of Black 47, Waddy Wachtel, and David Mansfield.
The context matters. Nile grew up in Buffalo, learned classical piano, moved to Greenwich Village in the early 1970s, and came of age at CBGB before signing to Columbia Records. He built a catalog over four decades with a consistent critical ceiling: Rolling Stone placed The Innocent Ones among the top under-the-radar albums of 2011; American Ride won Best Rock Album of the Year at the Independent Music Awards; MOJO gave World War Willie four stars. The New Yorker has called him “one of the most brilliant singer-songwriters of the past 30 years.” Uncut dubbed him “A one-man Clash” and “the unofficial poet laureate of New York City.”
The November 19 Albany date falls mid-run in a six-city November sweep through the Northeast, with Nile moving on to the Rex Theatre on the 20th, The Iron Horse on the 21st, and Joe’s Pub on the 24th. No support act has been announced for the Lark Hall date.

Lark Hall, a 14,000-square-foot space in a 1916 building at 351 Hudson Avenue, holds 300 standing and sits at the center of the Capital Region club scene. Doors open at 7 p.m., show at 8 p.m. The event is all ages. Free parking is available.
