All You Need Is John builds its case the right way: not on premise, but on personnel. The six-piece lineup assembled for this John Lennon celebration arrives at Penn’s Peak on Friday, February 5, carrying enough combined biography to distinguish it from the tribute market’s standard-issue fare.
About the Show
The full production — All You Need Is John: A Celebration of the Music, Vision & Legacy of John Lennon — frames itself in its own promotional language as an exploration of “the many sides of his artistry, from the psychedelic and deeply personal to the poignant social commentary that remains as resonant today as when it was written.” The six-piece roster reflects that ambition. Andie Forgie and Mark Rashotte, the show’s vocal anchors, have worked the Beatles tribute circuit together for more than 20 years, with performances in Liverpool and Belgium among their credits; Forgie’s studio career includes session work with producer Daniel Lanois. Guitarist Jeff Pevar is a New York Blues Hall of Fame inductee, a founding member of CPR with David Crosby, and a veteran of Crosby, Stills & Nash touring. Prairie Prince, who has drummed with The Tubes for more than 50 years through 15 albums, also contributed to records by Todd Rundgren, Jefferson Starship, and the Brian Eno and David Byrne collaboration My Life in a Bush of Ghosts; his debut solo album, Colours and Passions, was released in March 2026. Bassist Berry Duane Oakley is the son of Allman Brothers Band founding bassist Berry Oakley (his godfather is Doors guitarist Robby Krieger) and currently plays with the Allman Betts Band; he cites Paul McCartney as one of his earliest musical influences, a lineage that makes his presence here feel less like stunt casting and more like a thread that was always in the fabric. Keyboardist Gil Assayas, an Israeli-American composer and producer who toured with Todd Rundgren’s Utopia in 2018, rounds out the lineup. The Penn’s Peak date is part of a North American run through February 2027, with stops confirmed at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in New York, Rams Head on Stage in Annapolis, Memorial Hall OTR in Cincinnati, and Carnegie of Homestead Music Hall in Munhall, Pennsylvania.
