About Arts Fishing Club
Arts Fishing Club is a Nashville-based indie folk/rock band led by Christopher Kessenich, a Wisconsin native with a backstory that could fuel three albums. He completed a 1,600-mile walking tour from Maine to Nashville — playing more than 60 shows over four and a half months as part of The Walking Guys. That kind of road-worn commitment to live music does not stay at home when a band hits the stage.
The four-piece draws comparisons to Mt. Joy, Caamp, and Wilderado: folk-inflected indie rock with an ear for emotional precision and storytelling that earns every moment. Their 2023 debut full-length, Rothko Sky, leaned folk and introspective. Their recent single “Supernatural Groove” pushes toward a more mature, rock-forward sound — bassist Matthew Chansey brings soul and groove elements that pull the whole band into new territory.
They have done Bonnaroo, Newport Folk Festival, Summerfest, and Treefort. They know how to work a room. As one reviewer put it: “AFC’s live show is where their magic is unchained.”
