Briscoe at Showcase Lounge at Higher Ground | October 7, 2026

By Meg Andersen · May 26, 2026

Vermont in October is its own argument for making the drive. Add a folk-rock duo with one of the better harmony acts on the circuit right now playing an intimate room, and the case closes itself. Briscoe lands at the Showcase Lounge at Higher Ground in South Burlington on Wednesday, October 7 at 8:00 PM — and if you have not heard them yet, this is exactly the kind of night that turns a casual fan into a devoted one.

About Briscoe

Philip Lupton and Truett Heintzelman have been making music together since they were 14 — two kids from Texas who met at summer camp, spent their college years at UT Austin recording while finishing degrees, and then loaded a van and drove North America for a year figuring out what their music was really about. That origin story matters because you can hear it.

Their debut, West Of It All (2023), landed them on the Triple A charts with “The Well” and earned them spots alongside Noah Kahan and Dave Matthews Band. Their follow-up, Heat of July (2025), was recorded in North Carolina with Grammy-nominated producer Brad Cook — it brought in collaborators from Bon Iver, Waxahatchee, and Houndmouth, and pushed their sound into bigger arrangements with country-funk grooves and bluegrass instrumentation sitting next to each other like they belong there. ATO Records has a good eye for this.

The band draws comparisons to James Taylor, the Eagles, John Prine, and Willie Nelson, and the through-line is the harmonies — intertwined and cinematic in a way that sounds great on record and better live.

The Showcase Lounge at Higher Ground

Higher Ground is South Burlington’s main music room, running over 100 events a year across its two spaces. The Showcase Lounge is the smaller of the two — the intimate one — and for a duo built on vocal interplay, that matters. You want to be close enough to hear the harmonies fill the room.

A couple of notes before you go: the venue is completely cashless, so plan accordingly, and all bags are subject to search at the door. Build in some extra time before the 8 PM start. Full venue info at Higher Ground.
