Darius Rucker’s Songs of Summer Tour reaches Bethel Woods on Thursday, June 11, 2026 — twenty outdoor amphitheater dates spread across a summer that Rucker has, in one form or another, been building toward for thirty years.
The resume bears some examination. Rucker first appeared on the national radar as front man of Hootie & the Blowfish, whose debut Cracked Rear View became one of the top-ten best-selling studio albums of all time and earned the band two Grammy Awards in 1995. The commercial peak arrived fast and then, as it tends to, became its own kind of weight. What he did next is the more interesting part of the story: in 2008, Rucker crossed into country music and became the first Black artist to reach number one on the country charts since Charley Pride in 1983. He has since earned four number-one albums and ten number-one singles on the Billboard Country chart, was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2012, and won a third Grammy — Best Solo Country Performance — for “Wagon Wheel,” a song that has since gone Diamond. His most recent album, Carolyn’s Boy, continues a solo catalog that has considerably outrun anyone’s early predictions.
The June 11 date includes support from George Birge — whose “Cowboy Songs” reached number one at country radio — and Austin Williams, a young writer-performer from Tennessee whose catalog has surpassed 76 million streams.
Bethel Woods holds 16,000 at its Pavilion Stage outdoor amphitheater on the historic site of the 1969 Woodstock festival, roughly 90 miles north of New York City. As Hudson Valley venues go, it occupies a specific category of its own — the kind of place where the weight of the ground itself functions as part of the experience. The campus opened in 2006 and remains one of the more carefully programmed amphitheaters in the region.
