Death at the Silos sets you down in 1896 Buffalo with a mayor who’s just turned up dead and a suspect list that includes Nikola Tesla. The September 4 date at Buffalo RiverWorks is one of five chances to catch the series this year; the 2025 run sold out every night, and this year is a return engagement built on that demand.
About the Show
The experience runs 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Guests start in the Silo Events Center with a full buffet dinner: honey basil chicken breast (gluten-free), beer braised pot roast with gravy, six-cheese bow tie pasta, fresh garden salad, smashed red potatoes, seasonal vegetables, dinner rolls, and complimentary coffee and hot tea. After dinner, guests move through Buffalo RiverWorks’ historic grain silos for the investigation itself.
The murder mystery centers on the killing of a reform-minded mayor, with suspects drawn from 1890s Buffalo: Tesla, billed by the event as “the electrifying wizard of science shocking Buffalo with inventions and modern ideas”; a shady Irish cop; a tipsy boat captain; and the madame running what the event describes as Buffalo’s biggest house of ill repute. Guests question suspects, collect clues, and get hands-on with a Tesla-inspired electric ray gun prop. Final guesses go in before the night wraps, with prizes for anyone who solves it.
Organizers describe the event as built for “party-goers, social butterflies, and anyone looking for a great night out.” Light walking and standing are involved as guests move between spaces. September 4 is the fourth of five scheduled dates in the 2026 series, with one more following on September 25.
Venue & Logistics
Buffalo RiverWorks sits at 359 Ganson St. on the Buffalo River in western New York. The historic silos, original industrial grain storage structures rather than a constructed set, are what give Death at the Silos its atmosphere. The Silo Events Center anchors the evening, but the investigation pulls guests into the silo spaces themselves. For a production built around 1890s Buffalo, the architecture earns its place in the story. Plan on the full three and a half hours; the event runs through 9:30 p.m.
