Dexter and The Moonrocks at Town Ballroom | December 2, 2026

By Marc Delacroix · July 29, 2026

Dexter and The Moonrocks built their sound on what frontman James Tuffs described as a simple observation: “We realized that oil workers like to listen to Alice In Chains, and the goth kids like Tyler Childers so why couldn’t we do both?” The band, formed in 2021 in Throckmorton County, Texas (population roughly 700), tagged the result “Western Space Grunge” and spent the next few years testing whether the crossover held. It does. “Sad in Carolina” spent seven weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart; “Freakin’ Out,” released in March 2026, reached No. 1 on the same chart and climbed to No. 33 on the Hot 100, earning RIAA Gold certification and nearly 200 million global streams along the way.

About the Show

The Town Ballroom date is the band’s only scheduled stop in western New York on the December run, which opened the previous night at the Clyde Theatre in Fort Wayne before stretching east through Boston and two nights at Webster Hall in New York City. No support acts have been announced. The group—Tuffs on vocals, Ryan Anderson on guitar, Ty Anderson on bass, and drummer Ryan Fox—signed to Severance Records, a Nashville-based imprint of Big Loud Rock, as the label’s flagship act. They released their most recent single “If You Could Talk” on July 15, 2026, a track Tuffs wrote for his young son that opens on acoustic guitar before building into heavier arrangements, examining what the band describes as “the emotional cost of touring.” That introspective thread has run through their catalog since the debut EP in 2021, and drummer Fox offered a concise thesis for the whole project: “Grunge and country are honestly so similar. Both speak to the oppressed and the depressed.” The December run follows an October Australian leg that included support dates for Bailey Zimmerman in Melbourne and Sydney; earlier North American dates this year, including the Bourbon Theatre in Lincoln, Nebraska and The ELM in Bozeman, Montana, sold out.
