The Firehouse that plays Penn’s Peak on Friday, April 30, 2027 is a different band than the one that put “Love of a Lifetime” in the top five in 1991, mostly in the way that matters most: the singer. Original frontman C.J. Snare died in April 2024, ending a tenure that stretched from the band’s founding in 1989 through most of their catalog. His replacement is Nate Peck, a Season 21 American Idol golden ticket recipient who became the band’s permanent lead vocalist and has been recording with founding members Bill Leverty and Michael Foster since 2025. The show at Penn’s Peak pairs Firehouse with Mike Tramp’s White Lion (another ’80s catalog act reconstituted around its original frontman) in a double bill that raises an honest question about how much of a legacy survives a significant lineup change.
About the Show
Firehouse formed in 1989 and achieved their commercial peak in the early ’90s: a double-platinum debut, 16 Gold and Platinum records worldwide, and over 7 million albums sold. They won the 1992 American Music Award for Favorite Heavy Metal/Hard Rock New Artist, beating out Nirvana and Alice in Chains — one of the more improbable footnotes in that era’s awards history. Their power ballad “Love of a Lifetime” reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has since been voted the No. 1 wedding song.
Peck made his recorded debut with the band on “Mighty Fine Lady” (May 2025), co-written with Leverty. Their current single is “Midnight Gasoline.” Leverty (guitar), Foster (drums), and Allen McKenzie, who has held the bass role since 2003, form the instrumental core. The question the Penn’s Peak show will answer is how that catalog sounds with a new voice out front.
Mike Tramp’s White Lion co-headlines. Tramp, the Danish vocalist who co-founded White Lion in New York City in 1983, performs the band’s classic catalog, including “Wait” (No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100) and “When the Children Cry” (No. 3), with his current touring lineup. His 2026 release Songs of Experience is the third in a series of reimagined re-recordings honoring White Lion’s history.
