Penn’s Peak sits on top of a mountain in Jim Thorpe and gives you a 50-mile view of the Pocono ridgelines before you even walk through the door. That view alone is worth the drive — but on Friday, May 29, the mountaintop venue hosts The Fresh Kids of Bel-Air, five NYC-based musicians who have made it their mission to resurrect the absolute peak era of late-’90s and early-2000s pop, rock, and hip-hop. Live, loud, and unapologetically nostalgic.
About The Fresh Kids of Bel-Air
The Fresh Kids of Bel-Air cover the full terrain of the era. Third Eye Blind, Blink-182, Green Day, and Nirvana on the rock side. TLC, Coolio, and The Notorious B.I.G. holding down the hip-hop. Britney Spears, Spice Girls, and Alanis Morissette rounding out the pop. That is not guesswork — those are artists the band is known to cover, drawn from the era of Walkmans, Furbies, and butterfly clips. The band has played rooms like the Capitol Theatre, Union Transfer in Philadelphia, and The Howard Theatre in DC, and they have been featured on CBS. They know how to work a crowd.
Penn’s Peak holds 1,800 people. With a nostalgic crowd on a late-May Friday, this is exactly the kind of show that turns into a full-room sing-along from the first song and does not stop until the lights come up.
