G. Love & Special Sauce at Universal Preservation Hall | August 15, 2026

By Marc Delacroix · July 21, 2026

G. Love & Special Sauce’s 2006 album Lemonade was the record that turned Garrett Dutton’s Hip-Hop Blues project into something that felt, briefly, like a proper cultural moment: Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Marc Broussard, and Blackalicious all showing up to orbit his Delta-blues-meets-hip-hop sound. Twenty years later, the Lemonade 20 Summer Tour brings the band to Universal Preservation Hall in Saratoga Springs on Saturday, August 15, at 7:30 p.m.

About the Show

The anniversary tour’s band run stretches August 6 through August 28, with the Saratoga Springs date landing near the middle. G. Love & Special Sauce also arrive with Ode to R.L. in the picture, a tribute to late Hill Country blues legend R.L. Boyce that reflects how deeply the blues side of the band’s sound continues to shape their output. Their music has been described as a mix of slacker blues and alternative hip-hop, merging ’90s rhythms with classic blues guitar — a sound the band developed after forming in 1993 and signing to Epic Records by October of that same year. The current lineup is Dutton on vocals and guitar, alongside original bassist Jim “Jimi Jazz” Prescott and drummer Chuck Treece, a Philadelphia native who stepped in when founding drummer Jeff “Houseman” Clemens retired. Their 1994 self-titled debut, featuring the alternative radio hit “Cold Beverages,” landed them on MTV and Beavis and Butt-Head; the record was remastered and expanded in 2024 for its 30th anniversary. The Juice (2020) earned Grammy recognition. At 51, Dutton continues touring at roughly 150 shows per year — a pace that belongs to a different era of live music.

A VIP package for this show includes an all-request acoustic storyteller performance, a Q&A with G. Love, and a photo opportunity before showtime.
