Hayley Williams arrives at SPAC this September carrying something the music industry rarely rewards: a solo career built without trading on the band that made her famous. As the founding vocalist of Paramore — which survived lineup upheaval, a long hiatus, and ultimately returned in 2023 with This Is Why — Williams has spent years building a solo catalog that stands apart from that legacy. Her debut, Petals for Armor, opened at number one on the Billboard 200 in 2020. Her third record, Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party, landed last autumn to a five-star review from NME and nominations for the Grammy and Libera Awards. Billboard has called her “one of our most versatile, effortless rock stars.” That assessment is hard to argue with.
“The Hayley Williams Show” — the title carrying a certain self-aware confidence — is the expanded amphitheater leg of an already active touring year. Williams launched the theater run in March, taking Ego Death through its full sequence in close, intimate rooms. This autumn version scales outward: outdoor sheds, larger crowds, a setlist drawing from all three solo albums — Petals for Armor, Flowers for Vases / Descansos, and Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party — along with what the announcement diplomatically calls “exciting surprises.” Williams has said she wants audiences to feel “the blood and the bone” at these shows. It’s a peculiar ambition for a 25,000-capacity amphitheater, though she’s compelling enough that it doesn’t read as marketing copy.
The September 12 SPAC date falls roughly midway through a North American run that has already demonstrated real market demand: two-night stands at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens and the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles sold out quickly following announcement. Support from Magdalena Bay and Rico Nasty covers considerable stylistic ground.
