If you grew up humming “Your Mama Don’t Dance” or “Danny’s Song” without ever quite knowing who was responsible, let Jim Messina reintroduce himself. He’s bringing his band The Road Runners to Buffalo State PAC on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at 8 PM — and the night covers all of it.
About Jim Messina
Messina’s career is one of the more interesting in American rock. He came up as a producer and audio engineer for Buffalo Springfield before eventually picking up bass and joining the band. From there he co-founded Poco, helping establish the sound that would become country rock. Then came an “accidental” duo with Kenny Loggins — eight albums, millions of records sold, and songs like “House on Pooh Corner,” “Angry Eyes,” and “You Better Think Twice” that have never really left rotation.
He tours now with The Road Runners, and his recent live album Here, There & Everywhere gives you a solid preview of what a full night looks like. The Buffalo show is built as a career retrospective — Buffalo Springfield, Poco, the Loggins years, solo work, all in one set. Five decades of catalog in one room. That’s worth the drive.
About Buffalo State PAC
Buffalo State Performing Arts Center — Rockwell Hall, on Elmwood Avenue — holds 856 seats. That’s a room big enough to bring a full production, intimate enough that you stay connected to the stage throughout. The Elmwood Village neighborhood around it is one of Buffalo’s most walkable, so if you’re coming from out of town, build in some time before the 8 PM curtain.
