The Bacon Brothers at Clayton Opera House | August 23, 2026

By Marc Delacroix · July 15, 2026

Kevin Bacon’s other career — the one that has nothing to do with film franchises, that predates his recent resurgence on screen, and that most casual observers of Hollywood still underestimate — is a three-decades-long music partnership with his brother Michael that has earned its credentials the hard way: twelve studio albums, a touring circuit that has reached Carnegie Hall, the Grand Ole Opry, and the stages of Japan, and an audience loyal enough to fill a two-night engagement at a 400-seat historic theater in the Thousand Islands. When the Bacon Brothers bring the People In The World Tour to Clayton Opera House on Sunday, August 23, they will close out that two-night run at one of the more quietly distinctive rooms in the North Country.

About The Bacon Brothers

Michael and Kevin Bacon grew up in Philadelphia in a household that took music seriously — 1970s singer-songwriters, Philly soul, and classic rock forming the substrate that would eventually produce what the brothers call “forosoco,” their portmanteau for folk, rock, soul, and country. The label is a useful shorthand for a sound that resists easy categorization: at their best, the Bacon Brothers write songs that feel genuinely earned rather than genre-assembled, and their live shows, by all accounts, make the case more forcefully than any studio recording does.

Their twelfth album, Ballad of the Brothers, arrived in April 2024 and covers the forosoco map thoroughly — edgy alt-rock, Motown-inflected soul, fingerpicked folk — with Kevin’s son Travis Bacon producing at least one track. The title song is something of a departure: a Wild West narrative about two East Coast city slickers discovering unexpected musical talent on a Texas road trip, which functions as light mythology and a reasonably good story at the same time. The current tour is built around a newer single, “People In The World,” written by Michael and featuring Mare, a Philadelphia vocalist, released in fall 2025. Michael has described it as evoking the spirit of classic social anthems — an ambitious frame that the live setting is better equipped to justify than a studio track alone ever could be.

The People In The World Tour carries an additional component: a partnership with SixDegrees.org to nominate local “good humans” — people making their communities better — for recognition at each stop. It is the kind of civic gesture that either reads as genuine or as a promotional flourish; after nearly thirty years of doing this without the benefit of major-label machinery, the Bacon Brothers have enough accumulated history to earn the benefit of the doubt.

About Clayton Opera House

The Clayton Opera House sits at 405 Riverside Drive in Clayton, on the St. Lawrence River in the heart of the Thousand Islands. At 400 seats, it is an intimate room — the kind of venue performers seek out because they want the proximity, not because their draw forces a small space on them. The house runs seasonally from March through November, and its 2026 programming — David Sedaris and Tig Notaro share the season calendar alongside the Bacon Brothers — reflects a curatorial sensibility that punches well above the venue’s regional profile.
