Kings of Leon’s tenth studio album, O My Beloved, arrives the way reflection tends to — after enough time has passed to see the whole shape of things. Released November 6 on Love Tap Records, the 13-song record is the Followill brothers’ first fully self-produced effort, built from an impulse the band describes as a return to “the raw, unfiltered spirit of the music they made when they first came to Nashville.” More than twenty-five years into a Grammy-winning career, they’ve used album ten to look inward. The World Tour 2027 brings that work to Albany Med Health System at SPAC in Saratoga Springs on Thursday, May 27.
About the Show
Caleb, Nathan, Jared, and Matthew Followill (three brothers and a cousin) settled in Nashville in the late 1990s after spending their childhoods traveling the American South with their Pentecostal evangelist father. The music that came out of that formation was strange and specific: critics called it “hillbilly new wave,” a garage-rock core laced with Southern twang and, eventually, something that could fill an amphitheater without straining. O My Beloved returns to the starting point. Its thirteen songs explore what the band describes as “themes of family, gratitude and the everyday moments that have shaped their lives,” an introspective brief they executed themselves, producing the record without outside help for the first time. Their Grammy Award for Record of the Year — won for “Use Somebody” — is nearly a generation old; this is the album that arrives on the other side of all that.
Band of Horses opens the Eastern spring leg. The World Tour 2027 runs May 8 in Bristow, Virginia through October 15 at Madison Square Garden, covering more than 30 cities; the SPAC date falls in the front half of the itinerary, before the tour turns west in the fall.
Venue & Logistics
Albany Med Health System at SPAC is an outdoor amphitheater at 108 Avenue of the Pines in Saratoga Springs, part of the Capital Region’s summer concert infrastructure and a room that fits a touring act of this scale. It holds 25,000 people, with 5,200 sheltered seats and a 20,000-capacity lawn. The show begins at 7:30 p.m.
