Kurt Vile & the Violators at Higher Ground | June 19, 2026

By Meg Andersen · May 25, 2026

South Burlington is worth the drive — and when Higher Ground has a show this good on the calendar, you have a real reason to point the car north. Kurt Vile & the Violators bring the KV’s Been Good to Me Tour to the 750-capacity Ballroom on Friday, June 19, with doors at 7:00 PM and an all-ages show starting at 8:00. The Sadies open. This one feels like an event.

About Kurt Vile & the Violators

If you have been following Kurt Vile for any stretch of the last two decades, you already know what you are getting: a Philadelphia-based singer-songwriter who has spent nearly 20 years building one of indie rock’s most distinct bodies of work. His tenth studio album, Philadelphia’s been good to me, arrives May 29 on Verve Records — just three weeks before this show — and he has called it his “bringing it all back home to Philly” record.

The production reflects that ambition. Largely self-produced, recorded across Memphis, Los Angeles, Athens, and his basement studio in the Mt. Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia, the album blends meandering ballads with what Vile describes as “horizon-chasing road songs.” He has called it his best vocal record and his best electric guitar work. The lead single “Chance to Bleed” — which Vile describes as “hillbilly techno” — features a shoegaze-tinged riff and guest vocalists including Natalie Hoffman, Ethan Buckler, and Greg Cartwright. The record follows 2022’s (watch my moves) and runs 12 tracks.

Live, Vile is backed by the Violators: bassist Adam Langellotti, drummer Kyle Spence, and guitarist Jesse Trbovrich. The Sadies open the night.
