Empire Underground is the downstairs room at Empire Live Albany — and if you have not been down there for a show yet, Mac Saturn on Tuesday, July 28 is a good reason to fix that. Doors at 8:00 PM, 500 people in a club in the heart of Albany, and a Detroit band that has shared stages with the Black Crowes, Dirty Honey, and The Struts rolling through on their Long Ride Home Tour. About Mac Saturn
Mac Saturn are five guys from Detroit who describe themselves — and their press agrees — as glam rockers built on thick, distortion-laden riffs and drums that hit like they mean it. They channel old-fashioned rock and roll energy, but they pull in Motown, funk, and R&B to keep it interesting. Think more Stones than pure garage — loose, swaggering, and tight enough to back it up.
They released their debut album Hard to Sell in January 2024 — 10 studio tracks and three live recordings that scored a 9/10 from All Music Magazine — and have kept the momentum going with the 2025 single “Takes Time” and a 2026 live release, Cash On Delivery (Live). The band worked with Grammy-winning producers Al Sutton, Marlon Young, and Herschel Boone, the same production team behind some of Greta Van Fleet’s records. Live press has compared frontman Carson Macc’s stage energy to Mick Jagger — the kind of comparison you do not throw around unless you have seen it happen in person.
The Albany date lands right before a border run — the Long Ride Home Tour continues to Montréal and Toronto after this stop, which means this is your chance to catch them before the crowd gets bigger.
