Margo Price opens Hard Headed Woman with a declaration that says everything: “I’m a hard headed woman and I don’t owe you shit / I ain’t ashamed / I just am what I am.” If you have spent enough time with outlaw country to recognize the tradition (the George Jones covers, the Waylon Jennings songs, the Kris Kristofferson co-writes), you know exactly where that line comes from, and you know Price has spent her latest album planting her flag in the middle of it. The Wild At Heart Tour arrives at Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg on Thursday, September 10.
About the Show
Hard Headed Woman is Price’s fifth studio album and her most deliberate homecoming — a record that pulls from classic and outlaw country after a run of albums that tested other sonic territory. Recorded at Nashville’s historic RCA Studio A with producer Matt Ross-Spang, it carries collaborations drawn from across the tradition: a duet with Tyler Childers on “Love Me Like You Used To Do,” songs co-written with Rodney Crowell and Jesse Welles, a George Jones cover, a Waylon Jennings composition championed by his widow Jessi Colter, and the lead single “Don’t Let the Bastards Get You Down,” co-written with Crowell, Jeremy Ivey, and the late Kris Kristofferson. The album received a Best Traditional Country Album nomination at the 2026 Grammys. Price has described her aim in terms Johnny Cash would have recognized: speak for common people, tell the truth.
The origin story runs like this: in 2016, Price and Jeremy Ivey funded three overnight sessions at Sun Studio in Memphis by pawning her wedding ring and selling their car. No label wanted the record. Jack White’s Third Man Records, their first country signing, finally said yes. Midwest Farmer’s Daughter debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, the first time a solo woman’s debut had done so without prior Hot Country Songs success. Two weeks after release, she appeared on Saturday Night Live. She has since toured internationally alongside Chris Stapleton and Willie Nelson, become the first female board member of Farm Aid, and published a memoir, Maybe We’ll Make It.
The Wild At Heart Tour has been running since fall 2025, through rooms from Washington’s 9:30 Club to San Francisco’s Fillmore. Opening Thursday’s show is Jeremy Ivey, whose writing contributions to Hard Headed Woman earned him a Grammy nomination of his own. His set draws on the country and folk storytelling that has long been the other half of this musical partnership.

Sherman Theater is located at 524 Main Street in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, within reach of Hudson Valley audiences on both sides of the state line. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.; the show begins at 8:00 p.m. All ages are welcome; attendees 21 or older with valid ID may purchase alcohol at the venue.
