Moon Mullins builds imaginary hotels out of vintage keyboards and orchestral drift; Jackie West writes songs about who gets to have a voice and what it costs not to be heard. The two know each other — Mullins played drums and synths on West’s second album, Silent Century — and on Friday, September 11, they take The Falcon’s Underground Stage in Marlboro for a late-night split bill starting at 9 p.m.
About the Show
Mullins, a Brooklyn-based composer and vintage keyboard player, built Hotel Paradiso (Ruination Records, May 2025) around the perspective of a lone traveler at a fictional luxury resort: ten compositions moving from the lobby to the pool to the lounge in a kind of programmatic exotica that draws from Japanese ambient music, Henry Mancini’s mood LPs, and the harmonies of Maurice Ravel. Critics described the album’s palette as “kaleidoscopic in scope, creating moments of transcendent atmosphere.” Winston Cook-Wilson wrote that Mullins demonstrates “acute command of how to create a prolonged scene in sound, and his ever-expanding gifts as an arranger.” Collaborators on Hotel Paradiso included guitarist Sam Evian, whistler Molly Lewis, and strings player Oliver Hill.
West released Silent Century on February 27, 2026, her second full-length on Ruination Records. PopMatters gave it 8/10 and called it “timeless and untethered to any genre or era,” placing her in conversation with Joni Mitchell, Julee Cruise, Bob Dylan, and Lou Reed. The record was tracked live with the band learning the songs as they went, and its concerns are deliberate: who possesses a voice, who trusts their own, and what societal forces quietly work against both. The closing track, “Offer,” runs nine and a half minutes, West’s spoken-word verses moving through generational trauma and quantum theory. She has described the album’s animating idea in terms drawn from Taoism: “some experiences — especially intimate or spiritual — communicate without language, moving through us like traditions or instincts that endure quietly for generations.” Mullins, who played on that record, arrives here having already heard it from the inside.

The show takes place on The Falcon’s Underground Stage, the secondary performance space at 1348 Route 9W in Marlboro, in the Hudson Valley.
