The Song & Dance turns three this August, and it is throwing exactly the kind of party you would expect from a basement room that has somehow hosted everyone from Goatwhore to Hot 8 Brass Band in the same calendar year: a proper house-and-disco club night. That night is NIGHT SCHOOL, and it lands on Saturday, August 1.
NIGHT SCHOOL is a debut club series launching on an anniversary worth celebrating. Since opening in 2023, The Song & Dance has become one of downtown Syracuse’s most quietly essential rooms — a black-painted underground space on E. Jefferson Street that punches well above its size. Two hundred people max, general admission standing, a full bar, and a stage that has seen more genre-hopping than almost anywhere else in central New York.
For this one, the room goes full dance floor. OH.KANE and Body Electric are behind the decks, promising house, disco, and what the organizers call “all your favorite club tracks from all eras of dance music.” OH.KANE is a Utica-based DJ — deep house, tech house, open format — who has been working the upstate circuit through Syracuse and Albany for years. He released a TAPES EP back in 2018 and runs an ongoing “House of Kane” series on SoundCloud. Body Electric rounds out the bill.
The promise is simple: they will keep you dancing from start to finish.
A few things before you go: this is a 21+ event, so bring a valid photo ID — every attendee gets carded. Doors open at 8:00 PM. The venue sits in downtown Syracuse’s entertainment district at 115 E. Jefferson Street. Pizza is available if you need to eat without leaving the building.
Tickets start at $13.65. Grab yours at TicketWeb.
