Shaun Cassidy has been recording since 1977, but a full holiday record took nearly fifty years to arrive. That debut lands this fall, and on December 1 the UNWRAPPED tour brings it to the Riviera Theatre in North Tonawanda — one of the northeastern stops on a national run stretching from Colorado to California.
About the Show
UNWRAPPED: Songs & Stories for the Holidays is built around storytelling as much as the songs themselves. Cassidy weaves his classic catalog with seasonal selections and two new originals he composed for this run: “My First Crush” and “The Last Song.” He’s described the show as bringing “the songs you know and love, holiday favorites, new music,” and the personal narrative runs throughout.
The family thread gives the show a particular texture. Cassidy grew up in one of entertainment’s most recognizable households: his mother is Academy Award-winner Shirley Jones, who recorded holiday music with The Partridge Family; his father was Tony Award-winner Jack Cassidy; and his half-brother was fellow 1970s teen idol David Cassidy. Those family Christmas memories fold into the storytelling alongside his own (he has seven children), and that weave of generations and holiday associations is what makes UNWRAPPED different from a standard catalog show.
The career context fills in the rest. His 1977 self-titled debut went multi-platinum, produced a number-one hit single, and earned a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. He later appeared on Broadway in Blood Brothers and built a television producing career with credits including American Gothic and New Amsterdam. UNWRAPPED is his return to concert touring, and the North Tonawanda stop sits in the middle of a run spanning more than 17 dates between November and December. No support act is listed.

The Riviera Theatre on Webster Street is a theater-format room in western New York, just north of Buffalo and within reach from across the region. The seated setup works in favor of a show built around storytelling. This is not a standing-room night, and the theater scale keeps things intimate rather than cavernous. Show time is 7:30 p.m.
