On Bleecker Street’s reputation is built on a simple, difficult promise: no faking the Simon and Garfunkel harmonies. The intervals are too specific, the tuning too precise, and anyone who grew up with those records will hear immediately when something is off. Fred Krug and Brian Crane have spent more than thirty years learning to get it right, and on Saturday, February 6, 2027, they bring that precision to the Clemens Center in Elmira at 7:30 p.m.
About the Show
Krug and Crane met in high school, where they discovered a shared passion for Simon and Garfunkel, and have been singing this catalog together ever since. Krug, a guitarist from Watertown, Connecticut, holds a bachelor’s degree with high honors from the Eastman School of Music, where he studied classical guitar performance, composition, classical theory, and post-tonal theory, a background that brings structural rigor to arrangements that can sound deceptively simple. Crane, from Danville, Pennsylvania, developed his musical ear through church choir as a child, school musicals in his adolescence, and years of singing, directing, and ultimately arranging for various choirs and a cappella groups. The two are joined on stage by keyboardists T.J. Thompson and Christopher Shepard.
On Bleecker Street has built a multi-state touring record across the Northeast (Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Massachusetts), with sold-out shows at the Booth Theater among their stops. The set covers the full catalog: press has described their performance as “everything from greatest hits to deep cuts, all with stunning accuracy.” Audiences have consistently named the harmony as the heart of the show; one wrote that “the harmony was spectacular and at times I would close my eyes and they sounded like the real thing.” “Bridge Over Troubled Water” is among the confirmed titles. The evening runs one hour and thirty minutes with a twenty-minute intermission, is presented by Piper Entertainment, and is open to all ages.
