Schenectady’s M&T Bank Center has a summer show with two milestone reasons behind it: the 60th anniversary of Pet Sounds, one of the most influential albums ever made, and the nation’s 250th birthday. The Beach Boys bring their Sounds of Summer tour to 101 Harborside Drive on Saturday, August 1, 2026 — doors at 5:30 p.m., music at 7:00 p.m.
About The Beach Boys
The milestone framing is earned. The band has been at it since 1961, when they were teenagers from Hawthorne, California, and along the way they accumulated more US Top 40 hits than any American rock band in history — 36 of them. Rock and Roll Hall of Famers since 1988, they received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001. In June 2025, co-founder Mike Love — who wrote the lyrics to the band’s very first hit, “Surfin'” — was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
The touring lineup is led by Love, with musical director Brian Eichenberger. The band lost Brian Wilson in 2025; his influence on the Pet Sounds era they’re celebrating this summer is inseparable from the music itself. Songs like “California Girls,” “Good Vibrations,” and “Kokomo” are the kind of catalog that fills a room with people who knew all the words before they knew what to call harmony. If you’ve been thinking about bringing a parent or grandparent to a show this summer, this is the one.
