Here is the situation: 156/Silence is out this summer on the “It’s Not You, It’s Me Tour” supporting Chiodos — but they carved out three headlining off-dates along the way, and Saturday, August 22 at Empire Underground in Albany is one of them. That is worth paying attention to. A 500-cap club, a Pittsburgh metalcore band rolling into town just 13 days before their new album drops, and Coldstate warming things up. If you are anywhere in the Albany / Capital District, this is the show.
About 156/Silence
156/Silence has been building something real since forming in Pittsburgh in 2015 — through relentless touring and records that keep getting more ambitious. The quintet (Jack Murray on vocals, Jimmy Howell and Ryan Wilkinson on guitars, Kyle O’Connell on drums, Mike Ernst on bass) has logged serious time on the road with The Devil Wears Prada, Chiodos, Fit For A King, Counterparts, and Silent Planet. The label calls them “a formidable live force,” and that reputation is earned over years of exactly this kind of touring work.
Their sixth studio album, From A Distance, drops September 4 via Pure Noise Records — their first release with the label. Produced by Josh Schroeder (Lorna Shore, The Plot In You) at Random Awesome Recording Studio in Michigan, the record emphasizes “atmosphere, mood, and emotional impact.” Lead single “No Arms” is already out. Guest appearances come from Mike Hranica of The Devil Wears Prada, Alex Reade of Make Them Suffer, and Tony Castrati of Crippling Alcoholism.
Catching them in a 500-cap room this close to release night is exactly what these headlining off-dates are made for.
