Brotality has been doing the work that eventually runs out of room to hide — charting thrash singles on Loud, taking Metal Epidemic’s Reader’s Choice Award for 2022’s The Woods Will End You, collecting nominations at the Steamtown Music Awards through 2023. Jaws of the Earth, their third studio album, arrives September 26, and the release show at Funk ‘n Waffles is the version played for a room of two hundred in central New York before things get considerably larger: two months later, they open for Fear Factory and Darkest Hour.
About the Show
Brothers Bryce Maopolski (guitar/vocals) and Reece Maopolski (bass/vocals), with John Haring on drums, formed the trio in 2016 and have spent the years since building a catalog with genuine teeth. Worldwide Desolation, their 2021 debut, earned multiple “Best Albums” accolades. The Woods Will End You (2022) took Metal Epidemic’s Reader’s Choice top prize. The 2024 EP It Feeds kept pace; 2026 has been the run-up, with singles “Wormsign” (March, video directed by Seth Jones) and “Eat Your Flesh, Know Your God” (June) serving as previews ahead of Jaws of the Earth. Multiple singles have charted on Loud, with “Foxhole” reaching #2 and “Salting The Wound” at #5. The band draws on Mastodon and Megadeth (the groove-forward end of thrash rather than pure speed), and that range gives their catalog more traction than the average regional act running on riffs alone.
The release show is presented by After Dark & Mosh Retirement, with support from Krusade (metal) and CHAR (post-hardcore). The surrounding context is not incidental: Brotality spent part of this summer on the road with Islander on “The Dead Youth” tour before landing an opening slot on Fear Factory and Darkest Hour’s Cybernetic Domination Tour — a national run this November that theprp.com called “their biggest tour to date yet.” September 26 at Funk ‘n Waffles is the last local date before that begins.

Funk ‘n Waffles, a bar, restaurant, and music venue on South Clinton Street in Syracuse, is a 200-capacity room where a thrash set either lands or it doesn’t. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.; show at 8:00 p.m. The event is 16+ with ID; attendees under 16 are admitted with a parent or legal guardian.
