About Crickets & Cicadas
Crickets & Cicadas are a NJ/PA-based Grateful Dead collective, and they will tell you themselves that they are “the finest Dead band in the land.” Confidence like that earns credibility when your band plays upwards of 150 shows a year and holds to a strict no-repeats-within-a-month policy on setlists. Every night is a different show.
What they do with the Dead’s catalog is the thing worth understanding before you go. They use it as a launchpad — a song starts, you recognize it, and then it lifts off into extended improvisation that stretches wide open. Just when you have almost forgotten where it began, they bring you back. That loop is the whole experience, and a small room makes the energy impossible to ignore.
They dig into deep cuts and rarities rather than leaning on the obvious picks, which means longtime Deadheads will hear things they have not caught in a while.
