Here’s the thing about this Sunday night at Empire Live: Deicide is headlining, Rotting Christ is on the bill, and so is Immolation — and all three are confirmed for the Albany date. That full three-band lineup is not guaranteed on every stop of this North American run. Albany gets the complete package.
About Deicide
Deicide formed in Tampa in 1987 — they were called Amon at first — and have spent nearly four decades building one of the most recognizable catalogs in death metal. Founding vocalist and bassist Glen Benton and drummer Steve Asheim are still at the core. Guitarists Kevin Quirion and Taylor Nordberg round out the current lineup.
Their 13th studio album, Banished By Sin, came out in April 2024 on Reigning Phoenix Music. Critics pointed to the production as some of the best the band has delivered — heavy and brutal while still being clear enough to hear every layer. They’ve been on the road with it steadily, and the Spring 2026 North American tour is one of the bigger runs of the cycle.
The rest of the bill is worth your attention on its own. Rotting Christ, out of Athens, have been shaping black metal since 1987, drawing on Byzantine and Hellenic imagery in ways that feel nothing like the Scandinavian strain of the genre — brothers Sakis and Themis Tolis have built something genuinely distinct over nearly four decades. Immolation, from Yonkers, are a founding pillar of the New York death metal scene — technically challenging, sonically dense, and still one of the most respected live acts in the genre. This is a serious bill.
