Troy Savings Bank Music Hall does not need much help setting a mood. When you pair a 1,200-seat Capital District concert hall with one of American music’s most enduring songwriters, you get a Saturday night worth circling on the calendar. Don McLean brings his catalog to Troy on November 14, 2026 at 8:00 PM, presented by SLP Presents.
About Don McLean
There are a handful of songs so embedded in American memory that most people could not tell you when they first learned the words — they just know them. “American Pie,” released in 1971, was the longest song ever to reach number one and was named one of the top five songs of the 20th century by the Recording Industry Association of America. It entered the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002 and the Library of Congress National Recording Registry in 2017. The handwritten manuscript sold for over $1.2 million at Christie’s in 2021.
McLean’s catalog runs considerably deeper than a single cultural touchstone. “Vincent (Starry, Starry Night),” “Castles in the Air,” “And I Love You So” — songs covered by Madonna, Garth Brooks, and Drake — are the work of a songwriter who writes for keeps. Born in New Rochelle, New York, he is a Grammy honoree, Songwriter Hall of Fame inductee (2004), Hollywood Walk of Fame honoree (2021), and Musicians Hall of Fame inductee (2022). His 2024 album American Boys — a tribute to rock and roll pioneers, featuring Home Free on the title track — shows he’s still making music with something to say.
One more thing worth knowing: McLean offers autographs at his shows for a $40 fee. If you have an album cover that has been waiting for the right moment, this is it.
