Empire Live is turning five this summer, and Albany’s go-to standing-room venue is marking the milestone the right way — with a metal show on a Friday night. Downswing headlines on August 21, doors at 6:30 PM, and if you have been looking for a reason to make the run down to Albany, this is the one to put on the calendar.
About Downswing
Downswing is a metal act built for rooms at this scale. The genre has always made its strongest case at standing-room capacity — no seats, no distance, nothing between you and the stage but a crowd that is already there for it. A thousand people in a room built for loud nights is the format. If you know what you like, you already know what this night is going to feel like. Get there early; standing room fills from the front, and the front is worth it.
About Empire Live
Empire Live is at 93 N. Pearl Street in downtown Albany — a 1,000-capacity standing room venue and one of the stronger mid-size rooms the Albany / Capital District has to offer. It is a room that rewards showing up with a plan: know where you want to stand, get there by doors, and let the night take it from there. The downtown Albany location means you are in the middle of things before and after the show, which is never a bad situation to be in on a Friday in August.
Tickets & Pricing
Tickets are available through Ticketmaster. Doors are at 6:30 PM on Friday, August 21. This is Empire Live’s five-year anniversary show — the venue celebrating the way a good room should, with a full house and a loud night.
