If you want to catch Downtown Boys on this Public Luxury tour cycle, Buffalo’s Rec Room might be your last easy shot. The September 25th show is the penultimate stop on their 2026 tour — the Providence punk five-piece plays the Chippewa Street spot before crossing the border to Toronto’s Second Summer Festival the very next day. After that, who knows when they swing back through.
Rec Room holds 300 people. That matters with a band like this, because Downtown Boys is a room-filling act in the best possible sense — saxophone riffs cutting over industrial drum machines, Victoria Marie’s multilingual vocals working the crowd, the whole five-piece playing like they have something to prove and the energy to back it up. A 300-cap bar on Chippewa Street is exactly the right size for what they do.
The band released Public Luxury on June 26th via Sub Pop — their first album in nearly a decade, co-produced by guitarist Joey La Neve DeFrancesco and engineer Seth Manchester at Machines With Magnets in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Downtown Boys formed when Marie and DeFrancesco met at union organizing meetings at a Providence hotel, and that politics-meets-punk origin story is baked into everything they make. Public Luxury blends punk and indie roots with Latin traditions — saxophones, synths, drum machines layered over acoustic drums, lyrics in Spanish and English. The result lands somewhere between dance floor and mosh pit, and it works.
They spent part of June supporting Gang of Four on East Coast dates before headlining their own July run. The September 25th Buffalo stop, presented by After Dark Presents, arrives near the end of a long touring year.

Rec Room is at 79 W Chippewa St in downtown Buffalo. Doors at 6:00 PM, show at 6:30 PM EDT. Age restriction: 16+ with ID; under 16 admitted with a parent or legal guardian; no one under 12. Special guests are on the bill.
