Four Year Strong are opening their 25th Anniversary Tour in Buffalo on Saturday, March 20, and they are not starting soft. They are playing Rise or Die Trying in full. Front to back, twenty years after release, the record they call “the record that started everything for us” gets its due at Electric City — and this stop is where the entire 31-date run begins. The band is Worcester, Massachusetts pop-punk, with an aggressive, melodic live show that does not ask the room to settle down. When “Heroes Get Remembered, Legends Never Die” comes on at volume, the floor is going to know about it.
About the Show
The 25th Anniversary Tour marks two milestones at once: 25 years as a band and the 20th anniversary of Rise or Die Trying, the 2007 sophomore record that broke Four Year Strong out of the D.I.Y. circuit and into something with staying power. They formed in 2001 in Worcester, built their following through relentless touring and self-released material before signing to I Surrender Records, and have since put out eight studio albums. Rise or Die Trying is where most of their audience came in, and the band’s own framing does not pretend otherwise: “It gave us the foundation for everything that came after.”
Beyond the full-album performance, sets will pull from the complete 25-year catalog. Their exact words: “lots of deep cuts and rare setlist appearances.” The album includes tracks like “Heroes Get Remembered, Legends Never Die,” “Beatdown In The Key Of Happy,” and “Bada Big! Wit’ A Pipe!” — a full-album show means every track, which is a different proposition than a hits run. Heart Attack Man and Sunbloc support on the Buffalo date; Drug Church, who joins most stops on the tour, is not on this bill. The run closes April 30 at Citizens House of Blues in Boston. Four Year Strong’s most recent record, Analysis Paralysis, came out in August 2024 on Pure Noise Records.
Venue & Logistics
Electric City is at 433 Pearl St in Buffalo’s Theater District, named after the city’s 1896 designation as America’s first electrified city. The venue promises “great sound, strong drinks, and a crowd that shows up for the music.” This show is going to test all three. It is one of the right rooms in western New York for this kind of set. Doors at 6 p.m., show at 7 p.m.
