There are venues that justify a real road trip, and Kleinhans Music Hall in Buffalo is near the top of that list. A National Historic Landmark standing since 1940 and home to the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Kleinhans seats 2,441 people in a room designed from the ground up for serious listening. The acoustics have a well-earned reputation — and on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, Gregory Porter is going to put them to work.
Porter is a Grammy-winning jazz and soul vocalist with a baritone that sounds like it was built for exactly this kind of room. He took home Best Jazz Vocal Album for Liquid Spirit (2013) and again for Take Me to the Alley (2016), and has earned nominations for Nat King Cole & Me and ALL RISE as well. His musical roots run through Nat King Cole, Donny Hathaway, and Southern Gospel — you hear all of it when he opens his mouth. He performs with a large ensemble, which means this is closer to an orchestral event than a typical concert night, and in a room like Kleinhans, that matters.
This Buffalo date is part of the Love Is King Tour, which runs December 2025 through June 2026 across performing arts centers and symphony halls in the US and Europe. Buffalo is among the final US stops on the run — so if you have been on the fence, this is the one.
The show is co-presented by Soul of Buffalo and supported by JazzBuffalo, which tells you this is already circled on every serious jazz calendar in Western New York.
