I Promised the World at Rec Room | July 9, 2026

By Meg Andersen · June 6, 2026

Chippewa Street is Buffalo’s go-to nightlife corridor, and Rec Room — tucked in at 79 W Chippewa — is the kind of 300-capacity bar venue that punches well above its tier when the right band comes through. On Thursday, July 9, that band is I Promised the World, a five-piece out of Denton, Texas who just signed to Rise Records and are moving fast.

About I Promised the World

This band has a backstory worth knowing. Guitarist and vocalist Caleb Molina started writing what would eventually become this project in 2020 as an emotional outlet following the death of his father from COVID-19. He has described the music as “an extension of my dad’s memory” — and if you listen to the self-titled EP they dropped on January 16, 2026, that weight is all over it.

The band has been through a few names — Sw!tch, then Sinema — before landing on I Promised the World in May 2025. They signed to Rise Records in November 2025, and their self-titled EP, produced by Jon Markson (known for work with Drug Church and DRAIN) and Adam Cichocki, lands squarely in the lineage of late ’90s post-hardcore: think Glassjaw, Mineral, From Autumn to Ashes. The catch is that the oldest member of this band is 21 years old. They are channeling an era they never lived in, and doing it convincingly enough that people are paying close attention.

They have shared stages with Deafheaven, Midrit, and Koyo, and completed U.S. tour dates with Koyo in late 2025. Buffalo gets them with support from Rosasharin, guilt., and The Last Word.

About Rec Room

Rec Room is a bar and music venue sitting right in Buffalo’s West Chippewa entertainment district, with a capacity of 300. That is a small room — no bad spots, no real distance between you and the stage. Worth knowing before you buy: the show is 16+ with valid ID. Under-16 is admitted with a parent or guardian present; no one under 12 gets in.

Tickets & Details

Doors open at 6:00 PM, show starts at 6:30 PM on Thursday, July 9, 2026. This is the kind of bill — small room, new label signing, three supports — that disappears without much warning. Don’t wait on this one.
