Leonid & Friends does not cover Chicago so much as channel it. This 11-piece ensemble from Moscow plays with the horn-section precision and groove that made Chicago one of the most beloved bands of the 20th century — and they’re bringing the Make Me Smile Tour to Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe on Saturday, May 9.
About Leonid & Friends
The story starts in 2014, when founder Leonid Vorobyev posted a YouTube cover of Chicago’s “Brand New Love Affair,” transcribing the song entirely by ear. Chicago’s official website shared it. That moment launched what has since become one of the most respected tribute acts working anywhere — 400+ U.S. shows, over 300 million video views, and more than 1.2 million social media followers.
The repertoire reaches well past Chicago’s catalog. On any given night you might hear Tower of Power, Earth, Wind & Fire, Steely Dan, Blood, Sweat & Tears, or Stevie Wonder — a deep survey of the brass-driven rock and soul that defined an era. Original Chicago drummer Danny Seraphine has joined them on stage.
About Penn’s Peak
Penn’s Peak is a mountaintop entertainment venue in Jim Thorpe, PA, with a spacious dance floor, lofty ceilings, and a capacity of 1,800 — a room built for a band with this many horns.
