Lost Leaders at The Falcon | September 26, 2026

By Meg Andersen · August 25, 2026

Byron Isaacs and Peter Cole launched Lost Leaders in the late 1990s as self-described “jazz refugees” — two New York City jazz musicians who decided to write rock songs together and gave the project a name that acknowledged both its dual leadership and its uncertain financial prospects. What followed was a debut recorded at Levon Helm’s barn in Woodstock, critical attention from Relix and No Depression, and a single — “Long Way Down” — that landed as the most-added track at Americana radio in June 2022. On Saturday, September 26, the duo plays The Falcon in Marlboro.

About the Show

The duo is Byron Isaacs and Peter Cole. Isaacs plays bass for The Lumineers, appeared on their Cleopatra album, co-founded Ollabelle with Amy Helm, and is a Levon Helm Band veteran who splits his time between Woodstock and Brooklyn. Cole, a guitarist, also tours with Lava Baby and works as a professional audio engineer. Together they make gritty folk and rootsy pop layered with psychedelia, built around dual harmonies that have earned the kind of press that follows a band for years. Relix called it “timeless…perfectly in the now.” No Depression named it among the year’s top picks. Cole’s own description — “it borrows from a lot of things, but it’s got its own place” — covers the ground as well as anything.

The band’s most recent project is the score for Run, an indie feature directed by Melissa Miller Costanzo, featuring the single “Atalanta” with Amy Helm — their longtime friend and collaborator — on vocals. The soundtrack draws on reimagined and re-recorded classics spanning the 1970s to the 2000s. Their fourth album, Hungry Ghosts, recorded in spring 2023, explores themes of desire and acceptance. The Falcon lists this as a “Split Bill” presentation; no supporting act has been announced for the September 26 date.

Venue & Logistics

The Falcon is a 150-capacity room on Route 9W in Marlboro — a Hudson Valley venue that books jazz and blues most nights and, on a late September Saturday, a duo with roots in Levon Helm’s Woodstock circle. At this scale there is no bad spot; the harmonies carry. Dining runs 5:30–9 p.m.; music starts at 7:30 p.m. No reservations required.
