Lotus Land has been carrying Rush’s live catalog since summer 2006, and Neil Peart’s death in January 2020 gave that work a different weight. The music was always going to outlast the band, but Peart’s passing turned every well-executed tribute into something closer to an act of preservation rather than entertainment. Their booking agency describes a group that has earned its place in that work, wowing sold-out houses at premiere concert venues across a fanbase that has grown nationally and internationally.
About the Show
The trio playing the Riviera Theatre on Saturday, May 22 is Bob Chartrand on guitar, midi pedals, and backup vocals; Chris Nelson on lead vocals, bass guitar, and keyboards; and Mark Dalton on drums. Chartrand’s influences include Alex Lifeson, listed alongside Jimmy Page on a band biography page that traces his guitar education back to age seven. Dalton is self-taught, with Yes, ELP, and Jethro Tull among his listed influences; he and Chartrand have history together, both having played in The Lye, an original band active from 1988 to 1998. The outlier in the trio’s biography is Nelson, who has served as guitarist for Herb Reed and the Platters since 1994, with credits that include appearances on Time Life’s Doo Wop 50. The band’s own positioning of its audience is direct: Lotus Land targets “hard core” Rush fans who they expect will be “understandably critical,” an honest acknowledgment that the standard is already set. The word they use for their own approach is “obsessive.” No supporting act is listed for the North Tonawanda date. Their 2026–2027 touring schedule covers theater dates across New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Ohio.
Venue & Logistics
The Riviera Theatre at 67 Webster St., North Tonawanda, holds 1,100 seats — the right scale for a touring tribute with genuine draw in the western New York region. At that size, it puts the audience close enough to the stage to actually assess whether Chartrand is running those midi pedals the way Lifeson did, which, for the hard-core Rush fans Lotus Land says it expects in the room, is more or less the whole point. Showtime is 7:30 p.m.
