The All the Feelings Tour has been a long, ambitious run: 34 shows across North America, then a September European sweep through Dublin, Glasgow, London, Manchester, Paris, Antwerp, Utrecht, and Berlin. It closes Wednesday, October 7, in Laval, where Metric, Broken Social Scene, and Stars end a tour that opened in Austin, Texas back on Canadian soil. A closing night in Quebec carries a certain logic. These three acts are products of the same country, and in significant ways, the same scene.
About the Show
What makes this triple bill more than a straightforward co-headliner booking is the shared DNA behind it. Emily Haines and James Shaw of Metric are early Broken Social Scene members — Haines’ vocals anchor the BSS track “Anthems For a Seventeen Year-Old Girl,” and both she and Shaw contributed to You Forgot It In People. Stars have spent two decades as part of that same extended Toronto constellation. The three acts have overlapping histories that long predate this tour; what the All the Feelings Tour does is formalize them into a single evening.
Metric arrives in Laval behind Romanticize the Dive, their tenth studio album, released April 24 via Thirty Tigers. Produced by Gavin Brown, who previously worked with the band on Fantasies and Synthetica, the record has Haines describing it as the “essence” of Metric, a return to the band’s fundamentals after the more exploratory Formentera. Formed in Toronto in 1998, the group spent years resisting major label offers and releasing albums on their own terms before Fantasies made them a genuine presence beyond the Canadian border. Close to 30 years in, Romanticize the Dive draws a deliberate line back to what made them matter in the first place. Critics responded: the album received a Metacritic score of 75, with AllMusic calling Haines’ vocals “second-to-none” and Paste noting it is not “merely a retread” despite its retrospective character. Lead single: “Victim of Luck.”
Broken Social Scene comes to the night with Remember the Humans (May 8, Arts & Crafts), their new album built around themes of reunion, loss, and growth, with lead single “Not Around Anymore.” Stars, now more than 20 years into their run, released live vinyl from their 20th Anniversary tour. Earlier stops on the All the Feelings Tour included The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, Brooklyn Paramount, and Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Place Bell gets the finale.
