Night School at The Song & Dance | September 26, 2026

By Meg Andersen · September 11, 2026

Night School doesn’t pretend to be anything other than what it is: a late-night dance event built for people who actually want to be on a dance floor at 10 p.m. on a Saturday. Body Electric, the Hamilton, NY-based DJ behind the September 26 edition at The Song & Dance in Syracuse, spins house, disco, trance, and Eurodance from every era the format has ever produced.

About the Show

Night School is a recurring late-night series at The Song & Dance, presented by After Dark Presents. The September 26 edition puts Body Electric at the decks — a DJ whose Bandcamp catalog includes the album “Engage The Reels” and singles “Shimmer” and “Daughter of the Sun,” with a November booking at Hideout in Chicago confirming they’re active beyond the regional circuit. The programming spans classic house, disco, trance, and Eurodance — the venue’s own billing is “all eras of dance music,” and Body Electric’s range backs that up: After Dark also books them for Dominion, the venue’s October 31 Goth/Industrial/EBM night, where the set moves through new wave, post-punk, goth, and 80s classics. A DJ who covers house and disco one night, goth and industrial the next, brings a real collection to the booth. The event is 21 and up.

September 26 runs as a double-bill at The Song & Dance: two shows, two different crowds, same building. Sweet Dreams, billed as a new wave party “for early risers,” opens the evening with doors at 6 p.m. for the 18-and-up crowd. Night School takes over at 10. Same room, different frequency.

Venue & Logistics

The Song & Dance is at 115 E. Jefferson Street in downtown Syracuse, part of the After Dark Presents network. After Dark has operated across the Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse markets since 2001, produces approximately 250 live events each year, and describes itself as Upstate New York’s largest independent concert promoter. The venue bills itself as Central New York’s newest concert venue, with a calendar that ranges from electronic dance nights and metal to emo, indie, and queer-focused events. Doors are at 10 p.m., so the window beforehand is yours. Check the Central NY concert calendar for more coming up in the region if you’re building a full weekend around it.
