Southern Culture on the Skids at Daryl's House | May 16, 2026
If you have been waiting for the right excuse to make the drive to Pawling, here it is: Southern Culture on the Skids is rolling into Daryl's House on Saturday, May 16, and this is the kind of show that gets better the smaller the room.
SCOTS — the Chapel Hill, NC trio of Rick Miller, Mary Huff, and Dave Hartman — have been doing this since 1983 and they have gotten very, very good at it. Rockabilly, surf rock, country, R&B, and a punk edge that keeps everything honest: Rolling Stone called it “a hell raising rock and roll party,” and after four decades on the road, the band has earned every word of that. Their 1995 breakthrough Dirt Track Date sold over 250,000 copies; songs like “Camel Walk” and “Voodoo Cadillac” have turned up on late-night TV (Conan O’Brien, The Tonight Show) and even earned a Weird Al Yankovic parody — which, honestly, is the highest honor in rock and roll. Their most recent album, At Home with Southern Culture on the Skids (2021), was recorded in Rick Miller’s living room during pandemic lockdown: 11 tracks of what Miller himself calls “wobbly Americana.”
