Here is what a Sunday night at Buffalo Iron Works sounds like when it goes right: voices stacking toward the rafters, bass sitting somewhere in your chest, and a room full of people who showed up uncertain and leave not wanting to go home.
The Eagle Rock Gospel Singers hit Buffalo on Sunday, May 17. This is the one to get ahead of.
About The Eagle Rock Gospel Singers
Founded in winter 2010 by Will Wadsworth and Jeremy Horton in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles, the band started as monthly house parties — eight to eighteen friends gathering to sing classic gospel songs. Sixteen years later, they have played the Austin City Limits Music Festival, the Winnipeg Folk Festival, the Montreal Jazz Festival, and Voodoo Fest in New Orleans.
This is not contemporary Christian music. Their gospel is Americana at the root — blues, alt-country, and folk filtered through indie rock. Think Washington Phillips and Sister Rosetta Tharpe in conversation with Wilco and Levon Helm’s The Band. NPR Music called their sound “a rousing celebration of traditional Gospel sounds with rock foundations.” KEXP called the results “magical.”
Co-founder Will Wadsworth is direct about it: “We’re a party band. We’re there to get wild and dance.”
The 2026 tour supports Revival, their forthcoming fourth album, currently in production. Their first three records — Heavenly Fire (2015), No Glory (2017), and I Will Rise (2020) — earned coverage from NPR, PopMatters, No Depression, and Relix, plus sync placements on Netflix, ESPN, and Amazon Originals.
Opening: Part Time Genius
Buffalo’s own Part Time Genius opens the night. The 8-piece horn-driven alt-ska/funk/reggae band won the 2026 Taste of Buffalo Battle of the Bands and has shared bills with national touring acts including Fortunate Youth, Tropidelic, and Bumpin Uglies. They are exactly the right energy to warm a room up for a gospel party.
