For a Pink Floyd tribute band to sustain itself for nearly four decades, you need to offer something a streaming playlist cannot. The Machine does — with collective improvisation, theatrical staging, and elaborate lighting that have earned comparisons to Floyd’s own productions across different eras. On Saturday, December 26, the New York quartet brings their All Request Show format to Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, putting part of the setlist in the hands of the crowd.
About the Show
Founded in 1988 by drummer Tahrah Cohen and the late co-founder Joe Pascarell, The Machine has spent close to four decades working through Pink Floyd’s 15-album catalog: not just the familiar radio cuts, but the deep tracks most tribute acts skip. This particular show is built around fan requests — the band draws from the full Floyd library and shapes the set around what the room wants to hear. Their approach centers on collective improvisation alongside theatrical staging and elaborate lighting that echoes Pink Floyd’s 1980s productions.
Critical recognition has followed them for years. Rolling Stone said they “duplicate the sound and hits of Pink Floyd with chilling accuracy.” Spin noted that “they sound exactly like Pink Floyd, and that’s what counts.” Bob Ezrin, co-producer of Pink Floyd’s The Wall, kept it short: “These guys are great.” The band has performed at Bonnaroo, Riverbend, and Gathering of the Vibes, collaborated with orchestras in Atlanta, Detroit, Pittsburgh, and with the Buffalo Philharmonic, and toured across North America, Europe, and Asia. Current members are Tahrah Cohen on drums, Scott Chasolen on keys and vocals, Ryan Ball on guitar and vocals, and Chris DeAngelis on bass and lead vocals.
Venue & Logistics
Penn’s Peak is a reliable stop for artists touring through the Hudson Valley region, and The Machine has made it a recurring one — the band played here in March 2024 and June 2026 and returns again this December. The venue sits on a mountaintop above Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania with a 50-mile panoramic view; plan to arrive when doors open at 6:00 p.m. and give yourself time to take it in before the 8:00 p.m. showtime. On site: a spacious dance floor, lofty ceilings, a concert bar and concession area, and a full-service restaurant and bar.
