Penn’s Peak has always been the kind of venue that earns the drive. A mountaintop room outside Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania — 1,800 capacity, a full dance floor, soaring ceilings, and Roadies, a full-service restaurant and bar on-site to take care of you before the music starts. If you have never made the trip out for a show there, this is a good reason to start.
The Music Lives On Tour
This one carries weight that most summer shows do not.
The Mavericks have been making genre-defying American roots music since 1989 — a sound built from country, rock and roll, Cuban grooves, Tex-Mex, and Latin influences. Grammy-winning, Miami-born, and made to move a room. Their founding frontman, Raul Malo — Rolling Stone once described his voice as “operatic, spiritual, casually elegant, and wholly captivating” — passed away on December 8, 2025, after a battle with cancer.
The remaining band members — drummer Paul Deakin, guitarist Eddie Perez, keyboardist Jerry Dale McFadden, and co-founding bassist Robert Reynolds, returning to the lineup after more than a decade away — chose to keep going. The result is The Music Lives On Tour. Guest vocalists James Otto and Emily West share lead duties: both performed at back-to-back tribute nights at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville in December 2025, drawing standing ovations both nights. Deakin called them “undeniable talents” with “love and respect for Raul.”
The band put it plainly: “We know that we can never replace Raul… but we can still, in bold spirit, continue to play this joyous music, and celebrate The Mavericks’ legacy together.”
A dance floor at Penn’s Peak, a catalog built to fill one — it is not a hard sell.
