The Rhythm Pilots bill themselves as “New York State’s world-class and sizzlingly hot dance party band” — a Ballston Lake five-piece that backs up the description with a set running from Donna Summer to Bruno Mars: disco, Motown, 80s pop, funk, 90s and 2000s hits, and today’s Top 40. They’ve spent years holding casino residencies throughout New York State, and on Friday, October 2, they bring that floor-filling energy to Frog Alley Brewing in downtown Schenectady. Albany singer-songwriter Colin McCarthy opens the evening at 5 p.m.
About the Show
It’s a two-act bill with a long runway. McCarthy opens at 5 p.m. with soulful Americana and gritty alt-country, rooted in a musical family (his father and uncle were both local musicians) and shaped by influences that run from The Beatles and Little Feat to Jackson Browne and Neil Young. The Albany native spent time developing his craft in Colorado before returning home to the Capital Region; WEXT Radio documented the homecoming in their “Local 518 Sessions” series in February 2025. His 2025 album, All The Love I Had 2 Give, includes “Sacandaga Sunrise” — the kind of title that says something about where this songwriter is anchored. He’s followed it with three 2026 singles: “War Ready,” “Steppin Stones,” and “Somethin To See.” McCarthy has played this room before, too — he was on the Frog Alley schedule as recently as August 2024.
The Rhythm Pilots take over at 8:30 p.m. The female-fronted five-piece describe their span as “everything from KC & the Sunshine Band to Walk the Moon”: authentic 70s disco, Motown soul, 80s new wave, classic funk, 90s and 2000s hits, and contemporary Top 40. They’ve built that reputation across New York State, with casino residencies at Turning Stone, Rivers Casino Schenectady, Resorts World Hudson Valley, Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort, and the Vapors Night Club at Saratoga Hotel & Casino.

Frog Alley Brewing is at 108 State Street in downtown Schenectady, and it’s one of the Capital Region’s more consistent live music rooms — Friday and Saturday nights year-round, spanning genres from classic rock and tribute acts to country and reggae. The evening runs 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. This is a 21+ event; a cover charge applies for the late-night music performance.
