The Sadies have spent three decades building something that most bands never find: a sound that runs country, surf, spaghetti western, garage rock, and psychedelia all at once, and somehow tightens rather than splinters under the weight. They come to Buffalo Iron Works on Friday, October 9.
About the Show
The Toronto-based band is on a fall 2026 North American tour, with the Buffalo stop coming after a September run through the Canadian Maritimes and before an extensive Spain tour in November and December. The show falls amid one of the more significant chapters in the band’s history: founding guitarist and vocalist Dallas Good died in February 2022, just weeks before the release of Colder Streams, their 11th studio album. Dallas and Travis Good came from a musical family; their father Bruce and uncles were members of the Canadian country-rock band the Good Brothers, and that roots-music inheritance threads through everything the Sadies have made. Colder Streams was produced by Richard Reed Parry of Arcade Fire, recorded at Skybarn in Montreal between 2019 and 2021, and features vocal contributions from Jon Spencer. It won the 2023 JUNO Award for Adult Alternative Album of the Year and drew a Polaris Music Prize shortlist nomination. Parry called it “The Sadies’ finest album, the one I always hoped they’d make.” One reviewer put the broader arc plainly: “Most bands only get worse with age—much, much worse—the Sadies continue to confound.”
The band now tours as Travis Good (vocals, guitars, fiddle, banjo, mandolin), Sean Dean (bass), and Mike Belitsky (drums). Their most recent release is Live At 6 O’Clock, out February 27, 2026 on Arts & Crafts, a live recording from their collaborative run with the late Gord Downie and The Conquering Sun. Paste called it “one hell of a collaboration.” The Toronto Star’s summary of their sound—“scruffy punk diatribes and haunted earthenware roots-rockers”—holds across the catalog. The Globe and Mail went shorter: “Sounds good loud.”
Beyond their own records, the Sadies have cut albums with Neko Case, John Doe, and Andre Williams, each one a different angle on the same restless sensibility.
